Jane is a self-taught artist having started on her path from an early age growing up in Adelaide Australia.  She has developed her skills and style as she travelled in Australia and overseas.  She taught pottery for 15 years in Houston Texas, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and in her home state of Sydney Australia.  Jane’s creative energies have since shifted with the last 20 years devoted to painting. Jane’s central ethos is that the basis of good painting lies in composition.  Jane strives with each piece to achieve that balance in her work bringing in organic and structural elements with a
wisp of whimsy to delight.  Jane’s works are represented both locally in
Sydney as well as
internationally including
Italy, Germany and USA.

From the Artist

Shall I begin?  Images and inspiration abound and each day begins with the question, “to paint and what to paint?” Life is filled with family, home and
numerous distractions to keep me from painting and I have spent the last 20 years picking up and putting down a brush.  Each inspiration, a piece of music, the joy of light, the power of dark, an interesting turn of phrase or a fleeting look or movement observed in a fellow human, these are enough to see me pick up my brush and begin.

I draw on the techniques and styles of many and varied artists, having had the
good fortune to see exceptional works of art at close quarters in galleries and museums around the world.  My work may best be described as photo realistic
with a tendency to take on an occasional surreal bent.  However I thrive on
change and like to continuously explore and expand my style.  This can be observed in the evolution of my body of work that includes genre painting, portraiture, figurative and still life.

Painting is my passion and I look forward to what each day presents.

I hope to share this passion with you as you peruse the works in the gallery.
